Collaborative poem

Year 5 have been studying the poem, "The Magic Box," by Kit Wright this week and have collaborated to make their own year 5 version. I hope you enjoy reading it.

Our Magic Box

We will put in our box

The sway of a tree in the autumn morning,
Fire from the wings of a peregrine falcon,
A tip of a pen touching a birthday card.

We will put in our box

The sway of a satin scarf at a summer ball
The blue fire of a water dragon,
The feel of an ice cream on my tongue

We will put in our box

A snowman with its missing nose
A sip of the cleanest tap water
A leaping lion liberating his lunch

My box is fashioned from silvers, golds and diamonds
With stars on the rim and secrets in the hinges
Its hinges are the edge of the universe

I shall run in my box on the golden sand of the Sahara Desert
Then skip on the high-rolling emerald hills.
